Excessive Gaming Could Be Damaging Your Health, Study Suggests |
New research highlights the physical and mental health risks associated with prolonged video game play. |
Recent studies have raised concerns about the health implications of excessive video gaming.
Research from the University of Queensland indicates that individuals engaging in gaming sessions exceeding three hours are more likely to experience physical issues such as eye strain, wrist and hand discomfort, and back or neck pain.
Dr. Daniel Stjepanović, leading the study, noted that these adverse effects were consistent across different age groups and genders.
Furthermore, the study found that the negative physical effects of gaming for more than three hours per session were similar to those who reported gaming for more than six hours.
These findings underscore the importance of moderating gaming habits to maintain overall health and well-being.
Implementing regular breaks, maintaining proper posture, and balancing gaming with physical activities are recommended strategies to mitigate these risks.
As the gaming industry continues to grow, awareness and proactive measures are essential to ensure that gaming remains a safe and enjoyable activity. |
